The big theme of this year's Guardian Higher Education Summit was the future of higher education, with special focus on the challenges, threats and opportunities that lie ahead.
The event looked at how the sector as a whole will face transition and change, and also revealed that there's also lots of interesting work being done by individual departments and staff as they strive to rise to these challenges and seize new opportunities.
So, keen to hear more about how the workforce feels about this period of change, we asked both delegates and speakers at the event, what they thought the future held for them as professionals and for their sector as a whole.
Who we've been talking to:
Rt Hon David Willetts MP, minister of state for universities and science, Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
Andrew Blair, deputy director, marketing a market development, University of Surrey.
Peter Tinson, executive secretary, Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association (UCISA).
David Price, vice-provost (research), University College London.
