Audi to Link Cars to Traffic Lights

German premium car manufacturer, Audi, announced that it will connect its new models to the traffic lights in the German city of Ingolstadt as off July.

According to the German News Agency, this measure will allow car drivers to optimize their pace within speed limits, and to arrive just in time when the lights are green.

The car manufacturer already introduced this service two years ago in some US cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Washington. In the latter, already more than thousands of crossings are connected to a traffic information service.

According to Audi, launching this service in Germany was more difficult because infrastructure is complex and more decentralized.

The connected system should make the traffic flow in the cities smoother and car driving more relaxed.

Audi plans to introduce this service in other European cities as from 2020.
