Audi ploughs into war memorial in Greater Manchester high street

A car ploughed into a war memorial in Wigan on Sunday afternoon (October 30). The Audi drove into the World War One and Two cenotaph on High Street in Standish.

Police were called to the scene of the crash shortly after midday. Pictures from the incident appeared to show the Audi had careered off the road and ploughed through the bricked wall into the memorial garden.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that no arrests were made in relation to the incident and that no injuries had been reported. The extent of the damaged caused to the historical memorial is not known.
