Audi facelifts TT Coupe and Roadster for 2018

Iconic sports car gets a massaged face, more standard features and tweaked automatic transmission.

Hmm, what has changed on the skin?

As this is only a mid-life update, changes given to Audi’s third-generation TT Coupe and Roadster are minor.

The most significant alterations on the face are the new single-frame grille and larger air inlets. The matrix LED lights also incorporate turning lamps that flash dynamically.

Opt for the S Line package (as seen in the yellow-coloured Roadster model pictured below) and you gets wider front air splitter and rear diffuser. The suspension is also lower by 10mm.

The interior, meanwhile, is largely unchanged with the digital instrument panel called Virtual Cockpit remaining the centre of attraction. More features are now made standard in the TT.

What have they done with the gearbox?

In a bid to make the TT feel more accelerative, the lower ratios of the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission are now closely stacked. The higher gears, meanwhile, are more widely spaced for the sake of fuel economy.

The 2.0-litre petrol-turbo engine remains the highlight of the TT. Audi says a new particulate filter has been fitted to them, although it hasn’t mentioned their outputs.

The TT sold in Thailand comes with 230hp in 45 TFSI and 286hp TT S forms, both with automatic and Quattro all-wheel-drive transmission.

And when will this updated TT come?

As carmakers around the world are now gearing up to meet the new global WLTP emission standards by September, there might be a slight delay for the arrival of new models from abroad.

Sources at the Thai Audi office hope that the facelifted TT will come by the fourth quarter at the earliest or early next year at the latest.

As ever, only the Coupe is being planned for sale. Currently, the 45 TFSI costs 3.199 million baht and TT S 4.599 million baht.

After the Q-badged SUVs, the TT is said to be the next most important model for Audi in Thailand in terms of sales.
