Audi dumped in canal close to M57 bridge

A stolen Audi was dumped in a canal over the weekend.

The car was dumped in the water between Wango Lane bridge and the M57 bridge in Aintree on Sunday October 3.

Police attended the scene but couldn't find the driver or anyone in the vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered and found to be stolen from an address in the Fir Tree Drive North area in Croxteth on Saturday October 2.

Enquiries remain ongoing for find those responsible for the incident.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "At around 1.35pm yesterday (Sunday 3 October) we received a report that a black Audi had been driven onto the canal towpath in Aintree, between Wango Lane bridge and the M57 Bridge.

"Patrols attended and searched the area, but could not locate the driver or anyone in the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

"The vehicle has now been recovered an identified as reported stolen from an address in the Fir Tree Drive North area of Croxteth on Saturday 2 October.

"Enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible."
