Audi driver who destroyed £60k car on Queens Drive walks away with fine

A driver who "miraculously" walked away from a serious crash was handed just a £500 fine and five points on his licence.

Kevin Porter was driving on Queens Drive shortly before midnight on Monday, December 7 when he crashed his Audi RS4 into a bus stop. The car, travelling southbound along the main road at the entry slip for the M62, was destroyed, with the 27-year-old and a female passenger coming away from the crash without any serious injuries.

The pair managed to get themselves out of the car before emergency services arrived, with them both being taken to hospital at the time to be checked over. Porter, of Ketteringham Drive, Great Sankey was convicted of careless driving and resulted in him being fined £500 and handed five points on his licence.

Roads Policing Unit shared the news on their Twitter page. The tweet said: "Kevin Porter, 27, from Warrington, was recently convicted of careless driving. He received a £500 fine & 5 points on his licence.

"Porter destroyed his vehicle in December 2021 on Queens Drive. Miraculously, he and his passenger escaped without serious injuries."

Merseyside Police told the ECHO on December 8, 2021: "We were called at 11.55pm last night, Monday 7th December, to reports of a one vehicle RTC on Queens Drive involving a Audi RS4. The car was travelling southbound along Queens Drive at the entry slip for the M62 when it was involved in a collision with street furniture and a bus shelter.

"The male driver and female passenger managed to get out of the vehicle prior to patrols arriving and were taken to hospital to be checked over. Enquiries into the collision are ongoing."
