Audi driver tries to teach traffic cops the law after being caught without insurance

An Audi driver tried to outsmart police officers after being caught without insurance.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police had been alerted to a red Audi driving through the streets of Bolton several times this week.

In the early hours of this morning, after spotting it parked in St Helens Road, Daubhill, they approached it to find a man sat in the driver's seat.

Checks showed that he had no insurance and police seized the car, but not before the driver boldly tried to educate the officers on a point of law.

The man wrongly argued that section 165 of the Road Traffic Act, which allows police to take uninsured cars away, does not actually exist.

A spokesman for the GMP Traffic division tweeted: "This Audi has popped up a few times in Bolton the past 2 days.

"Located parked on St Helen's Road by XT18.

"The only occupant was now sat in the drivers seat with the car keys.

"No insurance held. Car seized.

"The male did argue that theres no such thing as section 165!"
