Audi driver leaves motorist with broken jaw and cracked ribs following minor crash

A Volkswagen Golf driver has been left with cracked ribs and a broken jaw after being attacked in a suspected road rage incident.

On the morning of Saturday, July 6, it is understood a silver VW Golf and a dark coloured Audi were involved in a minor collision in Hexham.

The VW Golf left the scene and travelled towards Newcastle on the A69.

At around 11am the car was waiting on the A69 slip road to Lemington Road Ends when the same Audi car pulled up alongside.

The driver of the Audi got out of the vehicle and attacked the VW Golf driver, leaving the 36-year-old victim with cracked ribs and a broken jaw.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

PC Helen Davison, of Northumbria Police , said: “This was a serious assault that followed what was a very minor collision.

“If the driver of the Audi was aggrieved about what happened then he could have contact police but he has taken matters into his own hands.

“There is no justification for the use of violence in this situation and we are treating this incident very seriously.

“An investigation into the incident is ongoing but we would ask that anyone with any information about the assault contacts police.”

Anyone who witnessed the assault, or has information that may assist police, is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting log 505 06/07/19.
