Audi driver caught doing 30mph over the speed limit 'blamed his cruise control'

A driver who was spotted doing 60mph in a 30mph zone told police it was because of his car's cruise control.

Officers stopped the man after he was caught speeding and tailgating in a silver Audi A4 yesterday.

He was first seen on Stitch-Mi-Lane, in Harwood, Bolton, and was followed to Red Lane, Breightmet, where he was pulled over.

Officers say the driver was even spotted overtaking other vehicles on the small, residential streets.

A spokesman for GMP's Traffic team said the man driver would be reported to the courts.

He said: "Officers from the Transport Unit saw this car on Stitch-Mi-Lane, Harwood driving above the speed limit, tailgating other road uses and overtaking vehicles.

"Driver stopped on Red Lane, Breightmet and blamed his cruise control for being put at 60mph.

"Driver reported."
