Audi driver busted picking family up on hard shoulder of M56 airport slip road

A driver of a £37k car who sought to dodge a £4.50 ticket - but wound-up slapped with a much bigger problem.

This driver of the Audi S3 was caught by Greater Manchester Police attempting collect his family from the hard shoulder of an airport approach road to avoid the pick-up fee.

His attempt led one commenter to label the driver "tighter than a submarine's hatch."

But matters got even worse for the driver when transport police discovered the vehicle was uninsured and displaying illegal plates, and they reported the driver for three offences.

Officers seized the car at the Manchester Airport slip road, where the driver had been attempting to avoid paying the £4.50 pick up charge at the terminals, reports the Manchester Evening News

Internet reaction to the news has been typically savage, with many finding it odd that the driver of such an expensive car would quibble over £4.50.

Jhonne3wikey posted on the MEN website: "Car worth £30k and and saving £4.50. Tightest in the UK, bet he has locks on his dustbin."

Stuart McGarry Tweeted: "Tighter than a submarine's hatch.  Expensive car, can't pay for insurance or parking or should that be won't."

@MarkLawson500 Tweeted: "Fur coat no knickers springs to mind!"

Others were struck by the irony that the driver will now be out of pocket for significantly more than the cost of airport parking as a result of his actions.

Kate Jones commented on Facebook : "Well this will cost him a lot more than £4.50 now.....what a n**!"
