Auchinleck Talbot win Macron Scottish Junior Cup for 13th time after victory over Largs

Auchinleck Talbot have been crowned kings of junior football yet again.

Tommy Sloan's side ran out 2-0 winners in the Scottish Cup final as they won the all-Ayrshire clash with Largs.

First half goals from Craig McCracken and Keir Samson secured a comfortable win for 'Bot as they completed another glory season.

It brings up Sloan's 25th trophy in the Beechwood Park hotseat - and Talbot's 13th Scottish Cup - as they rounded off this season's Treble.

McCracken sent them on their way in the showpiece final at Hamilton with a third minute header when rising to meet Jamie Glasgow's corner.

And although Largs had plenty of first half possession, they failed to trouble Talbot keeper Andy Leishman.

That left the way clear for Talbot to turn the screw and they scored a second on the break when Graham Wilson streaked clear to tee up Samson for a simple finish.

Thistle's Ben Black headed just wide as Largs tried in vain for a comeback but in truth they rarely looked like landing a blow as Talbot ran out comfortable winners.

Sloan said: "I'm delighted for the boys, who have given me everything this season.

"At times they looked out on their feet today and it was hard to watch in spells.

"But we dug in well and our extra cutting edge made the difference."

Goal hero McCracken added: "They have a bit of quality and were able to knock it around well but they didn't manage to break us down and I felt we deserved it."
