Auchinleck Talbot confirm plan to join new West of Scotland league as junior giants launch application

Junior giants Auchinleck Talbot have become the latest club to confirm they plan to join the new SFA pyramid setup.

Club chiefs have officially lodged an application to join the proposed West of Scotland League.

But the Beechwood Park men will retain their membership of the SJFA, allowing them to compete in the Scottish Junior Cup.

The 13-times winners are the biggest club yet to confirm they will take their place in the proposed revamp of the game.

Talbot secretary, Henry Dumigan, said: "We would have preferred to have met with our fans before this action, however due to the current coronavirus situation this was not possible.

"We will however make information available as we receive it."

It follows the news this lunchtime that fellow Ayrshire giants Irvine Meadow are also applying to the new setup, following a vote of shareholders.

Whitletts Vics also moved this weekend to confirm their intended switch, insisting they would become "Ayr's non league club".
