Auchinleck Talbot ace hoping to give boss headache by making most of Largs loan spell

Hamish McKinlay aims to give Auchinleck Talbot boss Tommy Sloan a headache by making the most of a loan spell at Largs Thistle.

The striker will spend the next month at Theesel after struggling to force his way into Sloan's starting 11 despite a promising start to life at Beechwood Park.

The 21-year-old is now determined to hit the ground running at Largs and give Sloan a difficult decision to make upon his return.

McKinlay, who joined Talbot from Irvine Vics in the summer, said: "It's probably the best move for both parties.  I enjoyed a few games at the start of the season but it's been harder to get in the team with it being just just one game a week now.

"The manager has been very supportive. Hopefully I can do well in my time at Largs and give the manager a decision to make when I come back. That's the aim.

McKinlay scored seven goals in his 11 appearances for Talbot.

But he has no complaints about being down the pecking order behind the likes of Graham Wilson, Bryan Boylan and Mark Shankland.

He insists just working with players of that calibre in training has helped improve his all-round game.

"The boys have been great. It was a big jump going from Irvine Vics to Talbot and I've learned a lot from guys like Graham Wilson who is a great player."
