Auchencairn's Link Park becomes pumpkin paradise ahead of Hallowe'en

Auchencairn’s Link Park was a pumpkin paradise on Saturday as local families snapped up the tasty squashes for Hallowe’en.

Local organic growers Suie Fields organised the sale to ensure nobody needed to clock up unnecessary food miles to buy the pumpkin of their choice.

The 11am-1.30pm event also featured a free seed and plant swap table, e-bike taster sessions and guess the weight of the prize pumpkin competition.

In a message on social media, Naomi Wight of Suie Fields thanked everyone who went along.

She said: “For those that guessed the weight of the prize pumpkin - it was weighed this afternoon at 19.85kg.

“Congratulations Willie Monk whose guess was bang on, there is a very large pumpkin heading your way!”

Auchencairn children are now busy carving out their lanterns for the big night – and keeping the cuttings for eating.
