It was a quadruple birthday celebration at Torr Organic Dairy at Auchencairn on Monday.
Co-owner Lee Paton and son Callum Wylie, who runs the farm, were astounded when not one but three Jersey cross calves dropped into the world within minutes of each other.
And it was an extra special day for Lee – it was her 58th birthday too.
“It is not unknown but quite unusual to get three live healthy calves,” she said.
“Even having two can knock the stuffing out of the cow but she calved them all herself and they were all a good size.

“She was a bit of a surprise – we did not know she was expecting more than one but she had three.”
“We have had triplets at some time in the past but I can’t remember whether they were all born alive or not.
“Usually with a multiple birth it’s not unusual to get one dead or one runt and there can often be complications.
“So to get three alive and well is a nice wee surprise at the end of the day.
“And, apparently, they are naming one of the calves after me.
“I’m not quite sure how I feel about that.”
