Auburn fans really celebrated Nick Saban’s retirement by rolling the trees at Toomer’s Corner

For Auburn fans and students, it’s been a storied tradition to celebrate big wins and championships by tossing toilet paper on the oak trees at Toomer’s Corner. It’s one of the great traditions in college sports and a major landmark around campus.

On Wednesday, Auburn didn’t even need to win a game for some fans to head to Toomer’s Corner.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement after 17 seasons and six national titles with the Crimson Tide. And to Auburn fans, Saban’s retirement was seen as welcomed news. This was the scene at Toomer’s Corner shortly after Saban’s retirement was made public.

By Auburn standards, that’s a pretty tame rolling. The city’s live cam showed that much of the initial rolling was done by a couple of fans, but more people would show up as the evening went on.

Fans also had jokes about Auburn celebrating its rival’s retirement. College football is just the best.
