Aubrey O’Day, Kesha, 50 Cent & More React To Diddy’s Trial Result: ‘Physically Ill’

A Manhattan jury has delivered a verdict in the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, finding him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, while acquitting him of sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.

While Diddy avoids a life sentence, he now faces up to 20 years in prison.

The entertainment industry has responded with a mix of support, frustration, and reflection.

Cassie Ventura, whose testimony was a focal point of the trial, was commended by her attorney Douglas H. Wigdor. He said, “Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice… She displayed unquestionable strength and brought attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion. This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors,” per Variety.

The entertainment world reacts to Diddy’s verdict

The verdict has prompted a range of responses from celebrities, many of whom have spoken out on social media or through public statements.

Aubrey O’Day

Aubrey O’Day, who was part of the group Danity Kane under Diddy’s label, expressed her distress on Instagram, saying the news made her feel “physically ill”.

“The cultural weight of this decision is immeasurable. It is heartbreaking to witness how many lives have been impacted by their experiences with Sean Combs-only for those stories to fall short in the eyes of a jury. I can only hope these jurors never have to watch someone they love endure what so many survivors have described,” she began.

“My heart is with Cassie. A woman who could’ve had a life and career free of fear and control. A woman who told her truth in a courtroom, only to have the world dissect her credibility instead of her courage.

“Let’s be clear: the courtroom operates by the law, but that DOES NOT mean it delivers justice.”

Kesha

Singer Kesha, known for her advocacy for survivors of sexual violence, posted a message of support for Cassie Ventura on X, writing, “Cassie, I believe you. I love you. Your strength is a beacon for every survivor”.

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood, who has previously spoken about her own experiences with abuse, shared on Instagram: “There is no consent in a domestic violence relationship. Period. Once the threat of violence is there, you comply. You do not consent. It is self preservation and survival. It is not freely or willingly given. It is forced and coerced out of you. We clearly have a long way to go in our understanding of this.”

Rosie O’Donnell

Comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell voiced her frustration, posting, “I guess a jury just never wants to believe that a woman stays because of power and coercion. This decision got me angry.”

Rapper 50 Cent, who has a long-standing rivalry with Diddy, commented on Instagram, “Diddy beat the (RICO charge), that boy a bad man!” with an AI-generated image of himself.
