Aubrey Huff is afraid of socialists, and he's got the bullet holes to prove it.
The former Giants first baseman/outfielder and current outspoken supporter of President Trump, took to Twitter Monday night to show what he and his sons were up to at the shooting range.
He was preparing them in the doomsday event Bernie Sanders wins the 2020 presidential election, presumably because he believes they'll have to use their guns against socialists, who will be trying to take them away.
"Getting my boys trained up on how to use a gun in the unlikely event @BernieSanders beats @realDonaldTrump in 2020. In which case knowing how to effectively use a gun under socialism will be a must," he wrote, adding, "By the way most the head shots were theirs."
The statement may seem strange coming from Huff, who earlier this year (profanely) said athletes should not make political statements, though a quick scroll though his Twitter timeline unearthed a whole bunch of political statements.
For what it's worth, Sanders trails former Vice President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination in the latest major poll (Quinnipiac) by a count of 24% to 13%, with Elizabeth Warren just ahead of the senator at 14%. Huff's fears may have been stoked by an Emerson College poll that slotted Biden and Sanders at 27% apiece, with Warren trailing behind at 20%.
The idea that Donald Trump may not win in 2020 isn't as far-fetched as Huff may believe: The president's approval rating in that Quinnipiac poll is just 40%, while 54% disapproved of his work.
