Mikel Arteta issues Bukayo Saka update - Latest Arsenal injury news after Newcastle United win

Arsenal bounced back on Saturday afternoon as they secured what turned out to be a comfortable victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were made to wait to open the scoring in north London, but did so in the second half, before adding another one later on.

The three points mean Arsenal are now level with West Ham United in fourth place in the Premier League table, ahead of their visit to Manchester United on Thursday evening.

However, Mikel Arteta was dealt a fresh concern on Saturday and with that being said, football.london rounds up the very latest Arsenal-related injury news.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka was very impressive in Arsenal's win against Newcastle, with the England international opening the scoring, but it was not all good news for him.

Saka limped off in the second half after suffering an injury and will now be assessed ahead of Thursday's clash with Man United, Arteta confirmed after Saturday's win.

What Arteta said: "It was an action where he said he felt something. He wasn't comfortable to continue and we'll have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him to see if there's any injury there."

Expected return date: To be confirmed

Granit Xhaka

There appears to be some positive news regarding the fitness of fellow midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Despite continuing his recovery from a knee injury suffered against Tottenham Hotspur, the Swiss was spotted taking part in training ahead of last week's loss to Liverpool.

Now, Arteta has confirmed that the deep-lying playmaker is on the road to recovery and could return sooner than had been previously planned.

What Arteta said: "Hopefully he will be a little bit sooner than expected, he's training and pushing himself and all the staff so hard like he always does and he's in a good place. He's evolving well and hopefully, we can have him a little bit earlier."

Expected return date: In the New Year

Sead Kolasinac

Bosnian defender Kolasinac has not had the best of luck on the injury front with Arsenal and that appears to have worsened over the past fortnight.

After a heavy challenge in a World Cup qualifier against Finland, the left-back had to be carried off of the pitch.

The Gunners revealed that he has sustained a ‘significant’ ankle injury and is not expected to be fit for the foreseeable future at the very least, missing last week's game on Merseyside.

Expected return date: N/A
