Aubameyang, Lacazette, Tierney, Xhaka - All the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of Leeds clash

Arsenal enjoyed a stellar display against Aston Villa on Friday night, clinching a 3-1 victory.

Central-midfielder Thomas Partey netted his first-ever goal for the Gunners before club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled their lead on the cusp of half-time.

Eventually, Emile Smith Rowe added a third before Villa substitute Jacob Ramsey grabbed a consolation goal for Dean Smith's side.

The north London club host Leeds United on Tuesday night in the round of 16 of the EFL Cup after Mikel Arteta's side saw off West Brom and AFC Wimbledon in the previous rounds of the competition.

However, both Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were taken off in the second half during the aforementioned win against Villa, leaving many fans concerned for their fitness following their impressive displays.

football.london takes you through the latest injury news heading into a busy week for the Gunners.

Alexandre Lacazette

The striker has impressed with his impact as of late and has given Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta a dilemma surrounding his future at the club. Lacazette’s contract expires next summer and whilst it seemed he was on his way out, his performances have brought him back into the first-team picture.

The 30-year-old was taken off in the second half, but Arteta confirmed it was just as a precaution, saying: “He worked really hard, he has not played many minutes, he hasn't played internationals and he is lacking that to finish the games, but it doesn't matter, he was terrific when he was on the pitch."

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang has found some form of late, scoring his fourth goal of the season against Villa with a rebound following a saved penalty.

Like Lacazette, he was taken off in the second half but Arteta confirms it wasn’t with a serious injury: “No, no, he was cramping.”

Kieran Tierney

Tierney missed out on Friday’s match due to a bruised left ankle, as confirmed by the club before the match.

On the Scotland international, Arteta said: “We don’t know how long he’s going to be out. He could not carry on the other day and he’s not available today."

Granit Xhaka

The midfielder injured himself in the North London derby victory over Tottenham, taking damage to his knee in the Medial Collateral Ligament.

The Switzerland international is expected to return towards the new year.
