Attendance at Ohio State Spring Game 3rd most in country

Ohio State fans always show up. They do it for bowl games, rivalry games, and glorified scrimmages. They showed up once again in the annual LifeSports Spring Game.

The official attendance for last Saturday was just over 60,000 at 61,102. It’s not the most of any school, but it does come in at number three, just behind Alabama that had a little over 1,000 more in attendance. Nebraska — no doubt excited for year two of the Scott Frost experiment — blew everyone away with 85,946.

It must be noted that Ohio Stadium was not at full capacity because of renovations, meaning only about 76,000 could squeeze into the confines of the ‘Shoe, but nonetheless, it was not a sell-out.

Still, with Urban Meyer riding off into the sunset and a team that has some holes to fill at multiple key positions, getting over 60,000 fans in the door for a scrimmage once again speaks volumes for how rabid a fan base the Buckeye one is.

The Big Ten had three of the top four attendance numbers with Penn State showing out with 61,000. However, something seems pretty fishy about an even number. Ah well, I’m sure the Lion roared over the PA about that many times too.
