Attempted murder probe underway after fire deliberately started at Renfrew house

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted murder in Renfrew in the early hours of this morning.

Around 3:10am this morning (May 23), a fire was deliberately started at a property on Western Park Gate.

In response to the incident, police say it was a "targeted attack" that was "frightening" for the occupants of the house.

Police Scotland officers report that nobody was seriously injured in the early morning incident.

An appeal has now been launched for anyone with information or anyone who may have CCTV images that could assist Police Scotland's investigation.

Detective Inspector Neil Martin from Paisley CID said: “This was a targeted attack that has been frightening for the occupiers of the house, luckily nobody was seriously injured.

“We are appealing to anyone who has any information on this incident or any CCTV images to contact us via 101 quoting reference number 0738 of 23 May 21.”
