Attempted murder probe launched in Ayr as man found with 'serious injuries' after late night attack

An attempted murder probe has been launched in Ayr after a man was found seriously injured.

The man was found on River Street in the town at around 9.30pm on Wednesday October 27.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and the 36-year-old was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital.

His condition has been described as critical, Police Scotland has said.

The police are now appealing for information to help trace those responsible for the attack.

Detective Inspector Stuart Lipsett, of Ayr CID, said: “A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this attack and we are appealing for information to help trace those responsible.

“I would ask if you were in the George Street or Limonds Wynd area at the time of the incident and saw the injured man or anyone acting suspicious, that you come forward and speak to police.

“If there are any motorists with dashcam footage that could assist with our enquiries, please get in touch.”
