Battersea car attack: Police hunt driver who fled scene after ramming vehicle into group of people during altercation

Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after ramming a vehicle into a group of people during an altercation in south west London.

Seven people were injured when the car drove into the group as they left a hotel in Battersea on Saturday.

Met Police said five men had been arrested on suspicion of affray after the incident on Lombard Road. They remain in custody.

Scotland Yard said officers were called at 11.15pm to reports of a fight breaking out.

Others were also treated for minor injuries at the scene.

A heavy police presence lined the street alongside the London Ambulance Service.

The incident is not being treated as terrorism-related but a crime scene has been established.

A Met Police spokesman said: "It is thought the altercation began after a group of people had exited a nearby hotel.

"Enquiries continue to identify and locate the driver of the car who had fled the scene prior to police arrival."
