Attempted murder investigation after teen chased into shop and repeatedly stabbed - police want to speak to this man

Police have released these images of a man they want to speak to after a teenager was chased into a shop and stabbed in Levenshulme.

The shocking attack happened at Madina Super Store on Stockport Road on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.10pm and found a 19-year-old man with stab injuries.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds to the back. He has since been discharged.

Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation and are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Detectives say the teenage victim was chased into the store by a man wielding a knife.

When the attacker caught up with him in the shop, he was stabbed repeatedly before the man fled.

Witnesses told the M.E.N they believed the attacker had arrived in the area in a car.

Blood was left splattered on the street as a result of the attack, described by police as 'vicious'

Now police have released images of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the crime.

Detectives are also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Chris Maddocks, of GMP's City of Manchester district, said: "This was a vicious attack which we are currently treating as an attempted murder.

"Our officers have been following several lines of enquiry. As a result we are now able to share with the public images of a man we would like to speak to in connection with this crime.

"I would like to stress to the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are following all available lines of enquiry to trace the offender and bring him to justice.

"Residents will continue to see an increased police presence in the area whilst detectives carry out their investigation, if you have any concerns at all please do speak to our officers.

"If you recognise the man in these images, or were in the area at the time and either witnessed this attack or saw anything at all suspicious, please get in touch with police as a matter of urgency."
