Attempted murder arrest over city centre stabbing that left band frontman fighting for life

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a city centre stabbing that left a teenager fighting for his life.

The 20-year-old was arrested this morning and taken into custody for questioning.

His arrest comes almost two months after an attack which left two 19-year-old men needing hospital treatment.

Both victims were members of up-and-coming indie band The Kairos, from Formby.

Fellow guitarist Lewis Chambers suffered a minor knife wound to his face in the incident, which led to a significant police cordon preventing access to a host of Liverpool city centre shops later that day.

Both were discharged from hospital last month.

The stabbing was highlighted when former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher tweeted to his 3.2 million followers he was sending "love and light" to "Tom and Lewis".

In an update issued today, Merseyside Police confirmed the arrest of a second suspect in connection with the incident.

It follows the arrest of Jason Thomas Medlicott, 20, of Leinster Road, Old Swan, who was charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and affray. He is currently on remand awaiting trial.
