Attempted murder arrest as two cops attacked with screwdriver in north London

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two police officers were attacked with a screwdriver in north London.

One of the officers suffered head injuries and the other had wounds to his arm. Their injuries are not life threatening.

Police had been called to reports of a burglary in Mill Hill at about 4.45pm on Wednesday.

The Met said in a statement: “While en route, officers were approached by a member of the public who stated they had seen a man acting suspiciously and carrying a screwdriver in Lawrence Gardens. Two officers were assaulted.”

The cops were taken to hospital while the suspect remains in police custody.
