Attempted murder arrest after man stabbed in row over 'noise from flat'

A man was stabbed in an attack detectives believe was sparked by a row over noise from a flat.

The 38-year-old victim is in a serious but stable condition after suffering a stab wound in Waterloo on Saturday night.

A 21-year-old man has been questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to a flat on South Road on the night of Boxing Day following reports of a stabbing. The victim remains in hospital.

Detective Inspector Andrew McCourt, of Merseyside Police, said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation, but we believe there was an argument concerning noise coming from the victim's flat and during the altercation he was stabbed.

"A 21-year-old man from Waterloo has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries."

Merseyside Police said house-to-house and forensic enquiries had been carried out.
