Attempted murder arrest after man stabbed in city centre bar

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in a city centre bar.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the knife attack in Yates bar on Portland Street.

Police were called to the scene just before 2.10pm today (October 20).

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody for questioning.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Just before 2.10pm today, officers were called to a report of a stabbing in Yates Bar on Portland Street.

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains.

"A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"He remains in custody at this time."
