Attempted murder arrest after man shot with crossbow at University of Surrey

  • A man was shot with a crossbow on the University of Surrey campus in Guildford on Thursday morning, resulting in him being hospitalised in a serious condition.
  • Surrey Police responded to the incident at the Manor Park Student Village around 10am, with emergency services remaining on the scene.
  • A 21-year-old former student, identified as a Saudi national, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.
  • The victim, a man in his fifties, is in a serious condition, and his next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from officers.
  • Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen stated that police are not looking for any other suspects, as the individual was detained at the scene, and an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
