Attempted murder arrest after man in 60s slashed in face

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man in his 60s was slashed in the face just before 10am today.

Police said the victim sustained "laceration wounds to his face" after he was attacked inside a home in Wirral.

Emergency services were called to Kings Lane, in Bebington, at about 9.55am on Tuesday morning.

Officers said it is believed the victim was attacked at a property near Kingswood Boulevard.

A man from the Bebington area has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and will be taken into custody for questioning by detectives.

The force said the man was rushed to hospital for treatment for his wounds, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokeswoman for the police said: "We were called at 9.55 am today, Tuesday 7 th April, following reports a man had been assaulted on the Wirral.

"Officers were called to a house on Kings Lane in Bebington following reports a man had suffered laceration wounds to his face. It is believed the man, who is in his 60s, was assaulted at a property in nearby Kingswood Boulevard

"The man has been taken to hospital for treatment for his wounds which are not believed to be life threatening.

"An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

"A man from the Bebington area has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and will be taken into custody for questioning by detectives."
