Attempted burglary at Co-op as raiders smash shutters and try to steal cash machine

A police investigation has been launched after an attempted burglary in Collingham on Saturday night.

The incident was reported to the force at around 11.30pm on Saturday, September 7, following the incident at the Co-Op on the High Street.

A police spokesman said: "A group of people wearing balaclavas have attacked the shutters and the front door to the store, before driving into the building and making attempts to steal the cash machine. The offenders have been unsuccessful in stealing the machine.

"Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the incident and believe a 4x4-type vehicle is connected to the incident.

"If you have any information please call 101 quoting incident number 1051 of 7 September 2019."
