A man was punched to the ground in a 'unprovoked' attack near a canal in broad daylight.
The shocking incident happened at around 11.20am yesterday (Tuesday) as the victim was walking along the Bridgewater Canal with his partner.
The pair were walking on the path near to Park Road in Timperley when a young male approached them then attacked the 61-year-old man.

He was punched to the ground by the stranger, police said.
The victim was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries to his face.
The attacker fled the scene on an electric scooter.
He is described as being aged in his late teens or early 20s and is of skinny build and around 5ft 7in tall.
He has light brown hair and was wearing a black tracksuit and a small black cross body bag which was seized at the scene.
No arrests have been made.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the attack to come forward and help with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall from GMP's Trafford District said: "This was a shocking, unprovoked attack in broad daylight, and this kind of violent behaviour won't be tolerated.
"We're following a number of lines of enquiry and looking through CCTV, but there were a number of witnesses in the area at the time and we're keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything, recognise the male from the description, or have CCTV or DashCam footage that could help.
