Attacker jumped from car and struck victim with 'blunt object' outside Castle Douglas pub

A man has been left with permanent scarring after he was attacked from behind in a vicious assault outside a pub.

The victim had been standing outside Monty’s Bar on St Andrew’s Street, Castle Douglas , when a grey car pulled up next to him at around 10pm on Saturday night.

A thug sitting in the passenger seat burst out of the vehicle before striking him with a blunt object.

He was then spotted speeding away from the scene, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

Police have now launched a probe into the incident.

The man behind the attack has been described as white, in his early 20s, short dark hair and light stubble.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “If you witnessed this incident of have any information that would assist Police with their enquiries, please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting ref 0177 of February 23.”
