A man dressed himself in a bedsheet, apparently thinking he would go undetected, before attacking an ex-colleague with an iron bar.
In the early hours of 1 December 2024, Javier De Brito Jardim, 36, of Bolney Street, SW8, was seen on CCTV wrapping himself in a white sheet on Cannon Street and walking to Poultry in the City of London.
There, he lay in wait at his victim’s place of work before attacking them using a metal bar, fracturing their skull. His victim managed to escape and alerted police.
Police stopped Jardim from boarding a flight at Heathrow Airport the next day, where he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in February.
