Attack on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in 2018: Case postponed to Oct 13

VISAKHAPATNAM: The accused in the attack on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Visakhapatnam Airport case is preparing to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court for bail.

The NIA designated court and Third Additional District Judge (ADJ) court adjourned the case to October 13.

It is recalled that the NIA court in Vijayawada was shifted to Visakhapatnam in the last month and this is the fourth hearing of the case in Visakhapatnam.

The then opposition party leader and present chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was allegedly attacked by the Janupalli Srinivasa Rao of Thane Lanka in East Godavari district in Visakhapatnam airport in the month of October of 2018.

Jagan Mohan Reddy filed a petition under section 284 CrPC by requesting the court that he would attend through Video conferencing. But that section is maintainable only for the President of India and governors not for the CM and the PM.

Under sections 273 and 276 CrPC victims must record their evidence in open court, accused Janupalli Srinivasa Rao’s lawyer Abdul Saleem argued in the court.

Saleem said that if CM Jagan failed to attend the court, he would file a 228 IPC case agaist CM YS Jagan. Further arguments will be held on October 13.
