Attack in Glasgow's Ruchill Park: Man suffers serious head injury as police hunt suspect

A man was rushed to hospital with a head injury after being seriously assaulted in Ruchill Park in the north of Glasgow.

Police say that on Saturday night (July 17) at around 10.30pm, a group of four men were exiting Ruchill Park onto Firhill Road when they encountered two people arguing.

One of the group, a 27-year-old man, tried to intervene and as a result sustained a head injury. The group were then confronted by another group who assaulted two of the injured man’s friends.

The 27-year-old was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. The others involved were uninjured.

Police describe the suspect as white, in his late teens to early twenties, with fair hair. He is described as wearing a red t-shirt and dark shorts.

Appealing for information this morning (Tuesday) Detective Constable Kevin Ford commented: “We are carrying out enquiries in relation to this incident which resulted in a man being seriously injured.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw the groups in the area or anyone matching the above description to get in touch.

"If you have any home CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area, please check back and see if there is any footage that could assist our investigation."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting incident 4306 of 17 July, 2021.
