'Atrocious' - These Tottenham fans take aim at one player after Champions League defeat to Ajax

Kieran Trippier was one of the outstanding performers in Gareth Southgate's England side who reached the semi-final of the World Cup last summer.

But the Spurs right-back has struggled to find the same form for his club since returning from the competition. It was no different in Tottenham's Champions League semi-final first leg defeat against Ajax on Tuesday, and fans weren't shy to point out the short fallings of the  28-year-old during the game.

Trippier started the game in the right wing back position, but was moved back to a more conventional full back role when Jan Vertonghen was forced from the field with what looked like a worrying head injury.

'Am I seeing things?' - Spurs fans notice two former players in attendance against Ajax

However, in both positions, the former Burnley man found it hard defensively against the young attacking Ajax side, and offensively with his final product into the box when attempting to supply Spurs front man Fernando Llorente, failing to impress.

Trippier was replaced by Juan Foyth by boss Pochettino with about ten minutes of the game to play, much to the relief of a lot of Tottenham fans. Whether the England man plays in the second leg, where Spurs will attempt to overturn a one goal deficit, is still to be seen.

Here are the thoughts of some of the fans on the full back's display.
