'Atrocious' - Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Lolley says exactly what everyone is thinking about VAR

Nottingham Forest midfielder Joe Lolley has taken to social media to have his say on the Premier League's video assistant referee, describing the way that it is currently being used as 'atrocious'.

The 27-year-old, who had an unexpected break from the football field after Forest's game with Reading was postponed, finally had a chance to put his feet up and watch the action on the television this weekend.

And yet again it was a weekend where VAR was brought into question after a number of controversial decisions including a late Arsenal winner against Crystal Palace that was chalked off by the video assistant.

VAR is yet to find it's way to the Championship, but that hasn't stopped Lolley from having his say on the topic which has been so heavily criticised since it's introduction this summer.

"Please limit VAR to offsides only," he argued, "the use of it at the moment is atrocious.

"Inconsistency," he continued when asked what exactly was wrong with VAR.

"Some of the decisions that have been overturned have been debatable and then they’ll ignore other similar decisions."

He added: "There’s no line for ‘clear and obvious’. At least offsides are fairly black and white, like goal line technology."
