Atomic Kitten's Natasha Hamilton received psychiatric care after welcoming fourth baby

Natasha Hamilton has shared that she was given care by a mental health team after she gave birth to her fourth child in 2014.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 38, bravely shared that she struggled with "mental health ups and downs" as she went through the end of her marriage to Riad Erraji.

Speaking on the Mindkite Podcast, Natasha explained that she had a "full breakdown" and was placed under the care of a psychiatrist after giving birth to daughter Ella.

"I was married for seven years, got divorced, lost the plot a little bit, went through some mental health ups and downs, and then I had my daughter in 2014," she said.

The pop sensation continued: "When I had my little girl and I had a full breakdown and I was under the care of a mental health team, the care of a psychiatrist."

Telling how she found inner strength she added: "It was then, I was just like, 'We can't keep doing this Tash. You need to sort your s*** out."

Natasha - who found pop stardom aged 16 - also touched on how it was tough to adjust from life as a popstar, she said: "I'd grown up in this intense bubble, totally wrapped in cotton wool for five years, then all of a sudden I'm out of that and they're all doing their thing over there and I'm literally on my own here, going, 'I don't know how to live a normal life.

"My whole life was scheduled, and all of a sudden I'm like, 'What do I do?'"

Reflecting on the time, she added: "I genuinely loved a bit of a pity party when I look back. It was like, 'Oh why is this happening to me? This is so bad!'

"I've had to give myself a little slap and go, 'Hang on a minute, get some balls, own your shit, get on with it!'"

In 2019, Natasha penned an autobiographical post on her personal blog Gurgles and Hurdles about her time in Atomic Kitten.

Writing from the heart, she said: "People ask me all the time, would I want my children to follow in my footsteps – the answer is hell no! It’s brutal and most people I know never got to make it out in one piece.

"I’ve even heard there are some people that I once loosely knew have died, they lived the high life too much and they paid the ultimate price.”

Since leaving life in the limelight Natasha has retrained as a beauty therapist.
