Atletico Madrid transfer, Premier League duo battle for Lille defender - Latest European rumours

The January transfer window is officially closed, but rumours never stop.

The window slammed shut at 11pm on Friday night, but attentions have turned to the summer.

With that said, we take a close look at the latest European transfer rumours.

Premier League transfer round-up: Arsenal sign Cedric Soares

Lampard eyes Pope move

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will make a move for Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope in the summer if he is successful in his attempts to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga, reports The Express.

The first signs of Lampard losing faith in the Spanish goalkeeper came on Saturday when he dropped the club-record signing to the bench, preferring Willy Caballero between the sticks.

But Lampard's plan of offloading Arrizabalaga in the summer may not be so easy, with the Blues board reluctant to take such a financial hit on a player they paid over £70m for less than two years ago.

Premier League duo eye Lille defender

Sports Mole are reporting that both Arsenal and Everton are eyeing up a summer move for Lille's Brazilian defender Gabriel.

The 22-year-old centre-back was subject of big interest during the recent January transfer window but Lille were able to fend off any potential moves for the defender.

But they may need to brace themselves for more interest in him come the summer, with both the Gunners and Toffees sniffing around.

Atletico open Rakitic talks

Liverpool will face Atletico Madrid in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League later this month and their Spanish opponents are in talks to sign Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona.

A report in the Mail claims that Atletico, who will welcome Liverpool to the Wanda Metropolitano, the ground the Reds won the Champions League on last season, in a fortnight's time, have opened talks over a summer move.

It is claimed that Barcelona are keen to move on the midfielder, despite Rakitic wanting to stay at the Nou Camp.
