Atletico Madrid send message to Arsenal over Thomas Partey transfer

Atletico Madrid have once again told Arsenal they will only accept a bid for Thomas Partey if it matches his release clause.

The Gunners have long held interest in the midfielder and made him one of their transfer priorities this summer.

Yet so far Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have been unable to come to an agreement over the player.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the two clubs remain at odds over their valuations of the midfielder.

Arsenal's next move after Gabriel

Atletico are only willing to accept an offer of €50m for the 27-year-old, which is the price that matches the release clause in Partey's contract.

The Gunners are yet to make an offer of that amount, with some traded likely needed if they are able to spend that sort of money on one player after the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Partey is currently said to be stalling on agreeing a new deal at Atletico.

Some swap deals have instead been mooted in a bid to push the deal to an amount that Atletico Madrid would accept.

Atletico are keen on signing French striker Alexandre Lacazette from the Gunners, with some suggesting that the players could be involved in a swap deal with each other.

Yet the Spanish club are unwilling to do a deal like this and instead want either deal to go through separately.

That would mean Arsenal paying €50m for Partey - something the Gunners so far have appeared unwilling to do.
