Atletico Madrid 'offer Thomas Partey to Liverpool in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain swap deal'

Atletico Madrid are eyeing a move for Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and are prepared to offer Thomas Partey in exchange.

The Ghanaian was part of the Atletico side that won 3-2 at Anfield back in March.

But he has been linked with a move away and is keen on heading to the Premier League.

Arsenal have been the club most frequently linked with his services but his £45m buyout clause may be beyond them.

The combative midfielder has risen through the ranks in Madrid and has made over 170 appearances.

Atletico are resigned to losing him but are keen on a swap deal with Liverpool, reports The Sun.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 13 league appearances under Jurgen Klopp this term, but midfield is the Reds' most competitive area.

The 26-year-old's quest to become a regular on Merseyside was hampered massively by a knee injury sustained in 2018 that kept him out for months.

But he remains a quality performer and has three years on his current deal.

Atletico convinced Oxlade-Chamberlain's compatriot Kieran Trippier to leave England and head to Spain last summer.

It took £20m to prise the right-back from Tottenham but he has waxed lyrical about the club and especially Diego Simeone since his move.

The Argentine's methods divide opinion but his success cannot be questioned and Trippier has labelled him as the world's best coach.

He said earlier this year: "Is Simeone the best manager in the world now? For me, personally, yes. When people actually play for him they realise how good he is.

"It can be difficult [to understand each other]; he does try to say little words in English. On the pitch it's not a problem, though. I know what he demands of his players. I know what he needs and expects from the team.

"I think everybody knows how good he is, how passionate he is when he is on the touchline and when he's in training. He's unbelievable and I've got this opportunity to learn from him."
