Atletico Madrid offer swap deal for Anthony Martial and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Atletico Madrid could be in the running to sign Anthony Martial in January, with reports suggesting they’re weighing up a swap deal with Manchester United.

Martial’s agent has revealed it’s the striker’s intention to leave Old Trafford, citing a desire to play regularly as his main motive.

That has sparked rumours of where the Frenchman could end up, with recent reports linking Barcelona with an approach, and it seems their La Liga rivals could join them in the hunt.

ESPN have said Atletico will reach out to United towards the end of the month to find out more about the striker’s situation, as well as his valuation.

The Spanish champions are said to be long-time admirers of Martial, and believe they might get their chance to sign him in January.

The report also suggests Atletico will ask United if there are any players they would like from the Wanda Metropolitano, with a potential swap deal being eyed up as a possibility.

Ralf Rangnick responded to the comments from Martial’s agent by telling the striker to speak to him or the club directly, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for the player.

Elsewhere, Newcastle could well be closing in on the signing of Kieran Trippier in what could be a blow to United.

The full-back had been linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer, and Trippier himself is thought to have been planning for a return to the Premier League before Atletico slapped a hefty price tag on him.

Rumours continue about his future as he reaches the final 18 months of his contract, and a report from The Telegraph states the Magpies are not expecting any issues in agreeing personal terms over a transfer as long as they sort out a fee.

The England international will not come cheaply, and Newcastle will likely have to break their own transfer record as they begin to splash the cash under their new owners.
