Atletico Madrid give Jan Oblak update amid Manchester United and Chelsea transfer speculation

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that Jan Oblak will remain at the club beyond the summer transfer window, despite links with Manchester United and Chelsea.

Although MEN Sport understands United are set to choose between David de Gea and Dean Henderson as their No.1 goalkeeper for next season, it has been claimed in some reports that Oblak is an option.

The 27-year-old Slovenian international is highly rated in Spain after a number of solid seasons for Dieogo Simeone's side.

But the Atleti president has no intention of letting Oblak leave the club after talking up his abilities as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world.

"For me, Oblak, and I speak as an amateur, is the best goalkeeper in the world," Cerezo told Spanish media outlet Marca.

"Regarding [Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut] Courtois, he is another great goalkeeper of those in the world and fortunately, both have dressed our shirt and with both we have been champions in many trophies.

"I always say that Oblak has a contract with Atlético and is the best goalkeeper in the world. It is not strange that he has offers from other great teams such as Atlético.

"We have many players, our squad is the club's main asset.

"Oblak is a magnificent player and in his position, unquestionably, there is no one to beat him right now."

Henderson is set to return from two seasons on loan with Sheffield United this summer and compete for a first team place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

It appears the Norwegian will have a straight choice between Henderson and De Gea, although a Chelsea move for Oblak - despite Cerezo's claim - may not be out of the question after Frank Lampard dropped his No.1 Kepa Arrizabalaga.
