Atletico Madrid eye reported Leeds United target after Arsenal's Thomas Partey swoop

Transfer deadline day has proven to be a busy one, with Leeds United pushing through a deal to sign Raphinha from Rennes before the 11pm shut off.

The Whites are far from the only club to be active in the Premier League today though and a piece of business from Arsenal may have potentially created a ripple effect for Leeds themselves.

Following a lengthy saga, the Gunners have moved to activate the £45.4m release clause of Thomas Partey at Atletico Madrid announced the signing late last night.

That left the La Liga side in the hunt for a replacement, despite the capture of Lucas Torreira on loan from the north London side, and a name familiar to Leeds fans has been mentioned.

Radio Marca stated that Atletico are exploring the possibility of Levante's Jose Campana as a replacement for the Ghana international, a player who in the past week has been mentioned as being of interest to Leeds.

Marcelo Bielsa's side reportedly lodged an enquiry with Levante and there were some claims of a £13.6m bid, but the Spanish side were seeking double that figure for a deal.

Campana, who could make his debut for Spain during the upcoming international break, could still be on the move - albeit a bit closer to home.

If Atletico were to secure a deal, they could find themselves given a boost with an extension to conclude a deal per Spanish league regulations.

Should Diego Simeone's side activate Campana's release clause, they would have 30 days to finalise the signing - regardless of the fact the deadline is this evening.

However, Campana's release clause at Levante is set at a whopping £54.5m and Atletico's finances may not be able to stretch to meet that figure.
