Atlas V rocket spotted above Glasgow leaving Bargeddie resident fearing he'd hallucinated

A Glaswegian was left fearing he'd hallucinated after spotting a rocket light up the sky above Glasgow.

Daniel Cresswell was out walking his dog Zeuss in Bargeddie at around 10pm on Monday evening when he suddenly spotted a 'UFO style object' above him.

He knew instantly it wasn’t a drone or helicopter, as it was a clear and peaceful night in the city, however he quickly filmed some footage of the rocket out of intrigue.

Only later did Daniel manage to identify the bizarre sight as the Atlas V rocket, which had been launched into space from California some 8,000km away.

The Atlas V, carrying Nasa's Landsat-9 satellite, had taken off at approximately 20:00 BST on Monday.

Talking about the incredible moment, Daniel said: "I didn’t quite know what I was looking at, at first

"The beams were so strong, I thought Captain Kirk himself was on his way to my local chippy."

"When it vanished, I thought I’d hallucinated".

Not the sort of thing you expect to see on a late-night dog walk in Glasgow.
