Atlanta shootings: Seven dead at three massage parlours with suspect on the run

Seven people have been killed - including four women - after three shootings at massage parlours in Atlanta.

Armed officers are searching the area for a possible suspect.

Crime scene tape was said to have surrounded the Aromatherapy Spa and Gold Spa.

In a news conference, Atlanta police said all four victims from those two locations were female and appeared to be Asian.

Meanwhile, another shooting happened earlier on Tuesday which left three people dead and two others injured at a massage parlour in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee County’s Sheriff Office told WSBTV that the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

Officers were reported to have said they are still searching for the alleged shooter who drove away in a black Hyundai SUV.

The later shooting at two spas has now left four people dead and a road has been sealed off by officers with a heavy police presence.

Police were reported to have said three women were killed at the Gold Spa and one was killed across the street at the Aroma Therapy Spa.

Armed police have been seen walking along the street outside the spas and it has been reported that police are checking on other Asian spas in the area and increasing their patrols in case they're being targeted.

The shooting reportedly happened along Piedmont Road near the intersection of Cheshire Bridge Road.

There has been no confirmation from police that the two shootings are linked and police said they were originally called to reports of a robbery.

In a press conference officers said the case was an 'extreme priority.'

Earlier this month in the same US state rapper Chucky Trill was shot dead at 33 in a Georgia highway attack.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Collin Flynn told media at the time there had been a spike in 'interstate shootings' in Atlanta.

He said: "Not only can the person lose control of their car after being shot or injured by a gunshot, but also if you are shooting from a moving vehicle and there's other moving vehicles around, you could be shot."

According to the most recent figures for firearms mortality from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention gun deaths accounted for 1,695 total deaths in 2019.
