The Atlanta Hawks have been dealt a significant blow with the news that All-Star point guard Trae Young will be sidelined for at least four weeks due to a left hand injury. The injury, a torn ligament in the fifth finger of his left hand, was sustained during Friday night's game against Toronto.

Youth will undergo surgery on Tuesday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and will then be reevaluated in four weeks to determine his return timeline.

This setback comes at a crucial time for the Hawks as they are currently vying for a spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. The team is also grappling with front-line depth issues as center Onyeka Okongwu is out indefinitely with a sprained left toe.

Young, a three-time All-Star, has been a standout performer for Atlanta this season, leading the team with averages of 26.4 points and 10.8 assists per game. His absence will be keenly felt, with Dejounte Murray expected to take on primary ball-handling responsibilities in his absence.

This injury poses a significant challenge for the Hawks as they look to maintain their competitive edge in the playoff race. The team will need to rally together and adjust their game plan to compensate for the absence of their star point guard.
