Atlanta Hawks Injury Updates: Johnson Out, Okongwu Progressing

Atlanta Hawks basketball

Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson will be sidelined for the upcoming game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a sprained right ankle. The injury occurred during the third quarter of a recent game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Although X-rays revealed no significant damage, Johnson is currently listed as day-to-day and did not travel with the team for the upcoming matchup.

Johnson, who is in his third NBA season, has been a key contributor for the Hawks this year, averaging 15.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team as they look to continue their strong performance this season.

On a separate note, Atlanta center Onyeka Okongwu is making progress in his recovery from a sprained left big toe and sesamoiditis. Okongwu has recently transitioned out of a walking boot and is scheduled to be reevaluated in a week to 10 days. The young center has already missed eight games due to the injury, but his return will provide a significant boost to the team's frontcourt.

Additionally, rookie guard Kobe Bufkin is also dealing with a foot injury, as he will be wearing a walking boot for the next 10 days due to a sprained left big toe. Bufkin, the 15th overall pick in last year's draft, has seen limited playing time this season but remains a promising prospect for the Hawks.
